As we age, signs of time start showing on our faces, including loss of lip volume and the appearance of lines and wrinkles due to muscle movement during expressions such as frowning or smiling. Fortunately, there are effective solutions to smooth out these facial wrinkles and turn back the clock a few years. Forehead frown lines and crow’s feet around the eyes are among the earliest signs of aging, easily softened or eliminated with cosmetic facial injections that relax facial muscles.
Most patients find dermal filler treatments very comfortable. We apply a numbing cream such as Emla (or a similar topical anaesthetic) before your treatment to minimise any discomfort. You may feel a slight pinch or pressure during the injections, but this usually passes quickly.
Unlike treatments that fill lines, muscle relaxing injections work by relaxing tight facial muscles, especially in the upper face, effectively reducing frown lines. These injections block nerve impulses causing muscle contraction, resulting in smoother, wrinkle-free skin.
Dermal fillers are used to plump wrinkles, furrows, and laughter lines, providing an overall youthful appearance. Treatments may cause temporary redness and swelling, typically lasting up to 24 hours.
