Why should I get a Skin Peel?
Superficial peels promote even, controlled and accelerated exfoliation (shedding) of old skin cells. Although the skin naturally replaces these old skin cells with new ones that process slows down as we age. Skin peels are very beneficial for rejuvenating the skin and stimulating the growth of new skin cells. All these signs of ageing can be improved with one of these treatments.
Lactic Acid Skin Peels
Lactic acid is widely used for the treatment of pigmentation; although it is beneficial in the treatment of acne particularly acne rosacea and treatment. It treats fine line’s and will brighten the skin. Lactic acid is derived from sour milk and is a member of the alpha hydroxyl family. It works by loosening the chemical bonds that hold the skin together which leaves the skin lighter, brighter and clearer.

Salicylic Skin Peels

What should I expect after my Peel?
You need to stay out of the sun for 24 hours after your peel, and continue to rinse your face with cool water if tingling reoccurs. Avoid putting anything on your skin for 4-6 hours after your peel, and do not use any active ingredient products on your skin for 24 hours after your peel. The skin will immediately feel fresh and youthful.
Some skin shedding will occur after 2-3 days and this can last for 3-4 days depending on your skin and the peel you have received.
How does the treatment feel?
Your skin will feel tingly during the treatment and you may experience some tightness. This will depend on your skin type and the strength of your peel. Your therapist will monitor your treatment closely throughout.
How many treatments will I need?
This will depend on your skin type and the improvements you wish to see from your skin peels. You will see a difference after your first treatment but for conditions such as acne, several treatments may be needed. Your therapist will be able to advise you on the best course during your consultation.
Is there any downtime with this treatment?
Depending on the type of skin peel and the strength of it, you will notice your skin shedding after 2-3 days and this normally lasts for around 3-4 days.
You will need to avoid the sun after a skin peel and take extra care when cleaning your skin. Your therapist will be able to provide you will full aftercare instructions that are tailored to the treatment you have received.
